Dr. Ruth Barratt is the chair of the Rader School of Business at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). She earned her PhD from Cranfield SOM in the UK, focusing on CSR, organizational behavior, and corporate governance. Dr. Barratt also taught at Cranfield and served as a visiting professor at Marquette. An award-winning professor, she was also on the faculty at Arizona State University (ASU) for a decade.
At MSOE, Dr. Barratt pioneered an innovative MBA program for aspiring K-12 principals in collaboration with the Kern Family Foundation, emphasizing character development. Her extensive work in this field led to a redesign of the MSOE business program, integrating principles of character and human flourishing. This initiative introduces a new approach to character training within business.
Dr. Barratt was a founding member of The European Academy of Business in Society. She serves on the executive board of the Wisconsin Center of Manufacturing and Productivity. The advisory board member for the Grand Canyon Center for Character Education and the Wisconsin Character Education Partnership. She continues to collaborate with a KPCEL working group facilitated by Boston College, exploring character and the whole person, and character initiatives across university systems.
